Go Outdoors and Visit Nature Each Day This Week
Simple Instructions:
- Each day this week, spend at least a half hour outdoors in a natural setting.
- Forests, mountains, beaches, fields, and parks are all fair game — you’ll want choose a place that is as untouched by civilization as possible, given your location.
- Once there, you can exercise, meditate, or just sit still. If you go with someone else, attempt to stay present with your environment, keeping conversation to a minimum.
Why Is this Practice Important?
There is something elemental in the human spirit that responds positively to time spent in nature. No matter what the scene, being outdoors seems to bring happiness, calm, and a sense of connection.
This week, we’ll foster that connection, visiting a natural landscape each day. You can choose the same location or multiple locations, so long as they meet your personal definition of “nature.”
Once there, walk, run, bike, climb, swim or just sit still. In doing so, you’ll connect (or reconnect) with your more basic self, reaping the benefits of the great outdoors.
