Say No to Booze Every Day This Week
Simple Instructions:
- This week, don’t consume alcohol — beer, wine, or spirits.
- You can choose to avoid environments where alcohol is served altogether (such as bars and restaurants) or you can practice making alternative choices, such as club soda rather than a cocktail.
- Regardless, we’ll learn firsthand the effect that alcohol has on our wellness by temporarily omitting it from our lives.
Why Is This Practice Important?
Alcohol is a daily presence in our lives — at celebrations, at mealtimes, and during simple leisure. It serves as a cue for relaxation and social connection and helps ease interactions in new relationships, both personal and business.
It is an accepted (and perhaps expected) practice to drink.
At the same time, alcohol consumption has a host of potentially negative effects — sleep disruption, dehydration, depressed mood, reduced athletic capacity, increased body fat, impaired judgement, and more.
This week, we’ll explore what life is like without alcohol, determining for ourselves if the benefits of abstaining are greater than the social benefits. In the process, you’ll observe your mood, behavior, and performance, learning firsthand the effect that alcohol has on your life.
